The Story

More than a patio. A connected backyard experience.

Some projects stand out because of the features they include. The best ones stand out because of how those features work together.

For this Lee's Summit outdoor living project, the goal was not simply to add a patio or build a covered structure. It was to create a backyard that feels more usable, more comfortable, and more inviting from the moment you step into it.

Every element supports the final outcome.

From the Diana Royal paver patio underfoot to the covered structure, rectangular fire feature, fountain, seating wall, and surrounding landscape, every part was designed to work together naturally.

Use this section as the project's visual progress story. Add multiple photos from the original backyard, construction milestones, and finished spaces so visitors can see the transformation rather than only the final result.

The Transformation

Five decisions that brought the space together.

Each stage solves a different part of the backyard experience while keeping the entire design connected.

01

Starting With the Right Foundation

At the center of the project is the Diana Royal paver patio, which created the main outdoor living surface and established the foundation for the entire space. A patio like this does more than add hardscape. It shapes how people move, gather, and relax outdoors. By giving the backyard a defined and durable gathering area, the patio helps the space feel more intentional and more connected to the home.

Adding Comfort With the Covered Structure

The covered structure plays a major role in how this backyard lives. Shade and protection make a space more comfortable throughout the day and more usable across changing conditions. Just as importantly, a covered structure gives the patio a stronger sense of place. It helps the backyard feel like a true outdoor room instead of just an open area behind the house.

Creating a Natural Gathering Point

The fire feature helps anchor the space and gives the patio a clear focal point. A fire feature naturally draws people in, encourages conversation, and extends the use of the space into the evening. Paired with the Quarry Smooth seating wall, the fire pit area becomes even more functional, adding structure, gathering space, and a clean finished edge.

Bringing in Movement and Atmosphere

The water feature adds another layer to the experience of the space. It introduces sound, movement, and a sense of calm that balances the more social elements of the paver patio and fire feature. When a project includes both gathering spaces and quieter visual moments, the backyard tends to feel more complete and more enjoyable over time.

Finishing the Space With Landscape Design

The flower beds and surrounding landscape design help tie everything together. Plantings soften the hardscape, frame the living areas, and give the finished project a more polished feel. The landscape creates transition, texture, and visual balance throughout the yard, making the project feel cohesive from every angle.
